Ultra-wealthy Hillary donors label Bernie supporters as "naive" and "rebellious" youth

While I respect Hillary Clinton for her accomplishments, I do not respect her millionaire donors -- pushing their special interests ahead of the public interest.

Politico published an interesting window into the world of her donors yesterday and their dismissive characterization of Bernie supporters will make your blood boil:

The focus on Biden — and McCarthy’s remarks — obscured the relative absence of discussion on the candidate currently leading Clinton in the polls in New Hampshire — Bernie Sanders. When the Vermont senator’s name surfaced, the group of stalwart Clintonites expressed confusion over how the 74-year-old pol has inspired enthusiasm among young voters, even young women. “Youth like anything different that feels rebellious,” Buell said. “They’re naive.” Excuse me? Bernie supporters are just "naive" and "rebellious" youth who have no logical reason to support Bernie Sanders besides sticking it to the man? "Young women" have to support Hillary and have no agency as independent voters? Excuse me?

Perhaps it was the tequila talking...

“Who wants tequila?” Buell, one of Clinton's closest friends, asked her guests, taking a survey of hands and ordering a round of tequila and sodas for the group. But, in my opinion, these millionaires are the "naive" ones.

They seem to think that the public should pick their candidates based on vapid Saturday Night Live skits...

They cited Clinton’s winning recent national television appearances — playing a bartender named Val on “Saturday Night Live,” and an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the "Today" show — and expressed relief that Clinton had finally made clear her positions on the Keystone pipeline and the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal. ...and not based on substantive policy concerns.

I guess Hillary's millionaires, though, have no idea what it's like to be 25, living on a $1,000/month San Francisco bunk bed, and unable to afford to visit the doctor when you get sick, because your insurance plan has a $4,000 deductible.

I guess Hillary's millionaires have no idea what it's like to be 30, paying $400/month on student loans with interest rates higher than vacation home mortgages, and feel hopeless about ever having the chance to buy a home, get married or raise children with dignity.

I guess Hillary's millionaires have no idea what it's like to be a young person of color brutalized by the police and then have the Justice Department fail to hold corrupt local and state politicians to account.

No, Hillary, Bernie supporters are not "naive," though maybe we are rebellious: we are rebelling against a political system that prioritizes the shallow concerns of tequila-guzzling millionaires over the day-to-day struggles of working Americans.

Hillary, if you care at all about the future of this country, not to mention the future of your campaign, you had best get the oligarchs funding your campaign to show some respect.
